I cannot help you with trouble shooting any problems, the three times I installed this application, it never failed. If it won’t start, deinstall Wamp Server and re-install. Be patient as the Wamp Server starts its services. If the icon is any other color or there is no icon, it did not start! If it did not start, go to the pink desktop Wamp icon and double click it. If so, you should see a green Wamp icon in the lower right next to the system time. Note that I will be using these to launch and control the server.ĬONGRATULATIONS Wamp Server has been installed!Īssuming that you kept the ‘Launch WampServer 2 now’ checked, your Wamp Server should now be running. I like the quick launch icon in the task bar and decided to go with a desktop shortcut as well. Please if at all possible use the default directory – my examples will assume the default directory structure for both Wamp Server and NetBeans IDE. This is as it should be – Wamp is your interface to all the services listed above. Note that you will not see the individual programs (Apache, MySQL, etc) in your windows control panel (currenly installed programs).
It once took me eight days to setup, configure and get all the components talking in a new development environment, so I know what I’m talking about. This Wamp process is much easier for us than installing each individual resource ourselves, then having to setup and configure them to work together.

I however am setting the development environment up on an older workstation, running a 32 bit operation system so I will be downloading the 32 bit Wamp Server. If you have a 64 bit operating system feel free to download Wamp Server 64 bit. For a Windows Operating system there are two options a 32 and 64 bit version. I prefer to go directly to the developers website for their product, rather than a portal. Please note that the operating system and memory are pretty close to the ‘minimum’ that you should use to run this development environment.
The specifics of my development environment are as follows: Operating System: Windows XP 32 bit Memory. The following session will lead you through the process of downloading and installing Wamp Server.
